The future is bright for solar energy
in Southwest Indiana.
A highly concentrated plastics and resin industry – more than 12 times the U.S. average – provides the Region with built-in technical capacities related to the production of membrane and substrate materials for crystalline silicon solar modules.
Similarly, the Region’s historical glass manufacturing proficiencies allow for an easy transition into the production of glass panels that serve as a base for “thin-film” modules. Combined with Southwest Indiana’s proximity to the First Solar cluster in Northwest Ohio, it is no wonder the Region has been receiving significant site selection attention for major solar projects.
